BASIC MASSAGE:
Swedish Massage offers long, flowing, rhythmic strokes that follow the muscle contours of the body. Using oil or lotion and beginning with light pressure which then increases to your comfort level each therapist uniquely combines additional Swedish strokes of kneading, percussion, and friction to compliment your overall therapeutic massage experience. Swedish massage relieves painful muscle tension, improves circulation, decreases stress, promotes relaxation and supports injury recovery.
Deep Tissue Massage is a combination of friction and pressure, using fingers, hands, elbows and sometimes other implements, works to "break up" the tension, or "knots," in muscles, providing greater freedom of movement. The muscle tissue is stretched and separated, providing for better circulation of blood. This technique helps to relieve pain associated with muscle spasms, whiplash, osteoarthritis and muscle strain associated with injury.
SPECIAL MODALITIES:
Hot Stone Massage is a variation of classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body and also used as massage tools. The basalt river rocks retain heat, which warms and relaxes the muscles. The result is a very warming, relaxing and unique massage experience. Please note that due to the extra prep and supplies required, there is an extra charge for Hot Stone Massage.
Neuromuscular Therapy This therapy combines both Swedish and Deep Tissue strokes, focusing on releasing chronic patterns of tension, pain and trigger points. Neuromuscular Therapy utilizes static pressure on specific myofacial points to relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) to encourage balance in the central nervous system.Jin Shin Acupressure This gentle, simple and noninvasive art shares many of the same concepts upon which acupuncture is based. Utilizing the life force that emanates from our fingertips, a gentle but penetrating touch is applied to the body to support the natural flow of the body’s energy system. There are 26 bilateral energy release points that can be focused on during this session.
Usui Reiki is a Japanese method of energy healing with ancient Buddhist roots, of utilizing the field of energy in and around the body for healing through laying of hands. It both calms and stimulates energy flow and enhances the conditions for self-healing inherent in the body. This can affect the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels of our being.
Craniosacral Therapy This healing method accesses the Craniosacral System, which includes the cranium, spine, and sacrum. It helps to jump-start the healing mechanism in the body using light touch. This therapy method is especially great for chronic pain, TMJ, headache and migraine sufferers, autism, and many other conditions.
Reflexology is a form of complementary therapy that involves treating the body through the feet. It is based on the premise that there are reflex areas in the feet which relate to all the body parts and that therefore the whole body can be treated through the feet. During a reflexology treatment, massage using the side and tip of the thumb will be used on each of the reflex areas. A firm but not heavy pressure is applied to the area, the pressure held for a moment or so and then, released. If the part of the body corresponding to the reflex area is out of balance then a degree of tenderness will be felt in the foot when pressure is applied.
