Correct Form for a Clean & Press

Trainer Aaron demonstrates how you can power through this strength move with safe, correct form.

It’s easy to pop a disc or injure you knees when doing a Clean and Press. Trainer Aaron has three safety tips:

  1. To protect your back, keep the bar close to your body, both when pulling it up and dragging it down.
  2. To protect your shoulders, lift up from your heels and through your legs. Lifting the barbell above your head is the last, and lightest, part of this move.
  3. The speed of your Clean & Press is relative to the amount of weight you lift. Remember, the bar alone adds weight, so start small and add weight as you’re able,
